Melaka

Ven and I decided to pop to Melaka for a day trip over this long public holiday.

GUESS WHAT!

We bumped into Ian Wright along Jln Tun Tan Cheng Lock! Yah THE loony goondu zany motormouth Brit Lonely Planet presentor I've been watching since JC. Wah lau was quite excited. And we bumped into him not only once but twice. He was staying in the same hotel as us. He looked kind of serious, not the zany persona he adopts on TV. Hahaha didn't do the manic fan thing and ask for photo n autograph n kiss. Should have hor? Now regret hahahaha ;) He was really short for an ang moh.

We went to a Nonya restaurant for dinner...... been there before with my mum. That time, the owner's daughter was studying on the bar counter. Now the daughter is a teenager and is still studying lor. Damn pia! Hahahaha Anyway that crazy boss never change at all. He still insists on ordering the things he think you should order. But the food was damn good especially the assam prawns. Loved it! Another weird thing about that restaurant. The napkins were from various origins. Mine was from N.Y.D.C! Imagine me shock n horror when I turned it over and saw that familiar doggy logo. Piang nearly fell out of me chair. Ven quickly checked his and the napkin stated some seafood restaurant name. Hai~ times are bad must save costs.

A trip to Malaysia ain't complete if you don't pop by to one of their 'tu chan' or 'local goods' shops. Ven and I were happily shopping when I spotted the sign 'Buy Chendol Coupon for restaurant next door' so we bought 2.

We went over to the restaurant and boy were we in for a surprise..... there were only empty chairs and tables in that so-called restaurant, save for a couple who looked just as bemused as us. No waiter no cashier nothing. Then a hand popped out of a small window and wordlessly beckoned me to hand it the coupons. The couple looked very amused. It's always like that isn't it. When you see another person being the victim in the same situation , you feel a bit better. hahaha anyway, the chendol was quite nice and fragrant. Hee then hor 2 guys walked in.....guess who started to giggle lalalalalala.....

Melaka is a really quaint town with weird people, food, sights and things. Kindda like this town although it's really a tad boring.... Well of you decide to go there one day come and ask me for the restaurant's location. Assam prawns really superb!
