Huge giant statue in Kaohsiung.... spotted more such gargantuan monuments of fervent religious devotion. Got Ji Gong, Buddha, Goddess of Mercy etc. In Taiwan, all temples are HUGE. *faint*

This is the city of lights in Kaohsiung. Basically it's just a park in the middle of the city fitted with lights. Quite a cool place to hang out but not in the summer heat. *sweat*

There I was at Pingxi, 40 mins away from Taipei City. It's this sleepy, quaint scenic old town that used to thrive on coal mining.

I had to take a picture with the train conductor. Check out the resemblence with the statue below! He's such a typical Taiwanese train conductor!

Ping Xi has a few waterfall. This one is called Eye Waterfall I think.

This is the Shifen waterfall. Quite massive when you get near to it, with all the water spraying in the wind.

Pingxi is the Tian Deng homeland where you scribble your wishes on the paper sky lantern, lit a fire and release it into the sky, hoping the gods above will grant your wishes. On hindsight, I realised why Singapore will never have this tradition. Littering fines.

Yes yes yes. I hear it all now... why Taiwan again...long story actually. Had fun though and good to meet my crazy Taiwanese family friends who are on the constant prowl to find food to gorge us with and entertain us with their bizzare banter. Good food, good fun, nice sights, great shopping. What more can I say? Thoroughly enjoyable despite the crazy weather.

如同你我一樣　　　　
我不知道有多少五迷是和我一樣，從穿著高中制服一路聽到現在提著公事包每天趕著上班。

對我而言，五月天是變了沒錯，這始終無法否認。
可是有時候上班之前看著鏡子裡的自己，難道我就沒有變嗎?
每天問自己這個問題，我都無法回答。

誰不想像年輕時一樣，心情不好就不上課?
但是事實是，現在的我們必須為了下個月可能繳不出來的卡費努力工作，
"老子他X的不幹了!"，這種話大家都在心裡講過，可是真的能說嗎?

我們當然都喜歡過去的生活方式，問題是回不去了呀，不是嗎?

所以，每每我覺得五月天商業化的同時，其實自己也得承認我正在社會化不是嗎?
既然我自己都變了這麼多，我又怎麼能要求他們不變?
又怎麼能要求他們繼續唱那種自己明明做不到也沒勇氣做的內容?
我常常在想，多少覺得五月天變了的人，可能也像我一樣其實是討厭現在的自己。

也許有人會說，就是因為現實做不到，我們才希望能在歌曲裡找到寄託阿!
但對我而言，雖然人都該有夢想，
也是要在自己努力而可及的範圍，做夢才會有它的意義呀。
修正自己夢想的形狀並不可恥，只要沒有失去實現夢想的能力。

從年輕夢想著要長大要賺大錢到現在夢想著要存一筆錢出國旅行，
夢想變小了，但並不是因為我們膽怯了，
而是我們長大了，更認清這個世界了，於是我們更知足了，
也許我們不喜歡現在的自己，也許我們也都變了很多，
但至少，我們開始學習如何在與現實妥協和追逐夢想之間找到平衡點。

為什麼我還是很喜歡五月天?

是因為，我永遠可以在他們的歌裏找到信念。

他們告訴我雖然不能呼朋引伴尬車來發洩情緒，
但你可以找知心好友一起玩

雖然不能動不動就想丟下一切逃離這個瘋狂世界，
但你可以稍微蹲下來
休息一下
流幾滴眼淚
然後倔強的站起來
繼續面對困難。

高中的時候喜歡他們，是因為不知道長大以後的困難是如此的現實。

Here a link to blinkmummy who took some videos of the concert. Contrary to her opinion that the energy level wasn't high enough during the Mayday performance...I think the energy was great although the crowd was small. Good to see them performing live after so long. The songs were great although as usual Ah Shin had to forget lyrics and go off key at times. The fun part was seeing him get sabo-ed because it was his birthday. Below are 2 excerpts from others who went for the concerts to let you have an idea of what happened. :)

for those who missed tonite's performance, some random thoughts that i can think of now.there are no new songs from their new album performed. they performed most of the songs like in Final Home concert. but still it was all very high!!it was obvious most of the people in the stadium was waiting for mayday, but still bobby chen's perfomance was very awesome! when he came out, his face is already red, so he might have started his drinking at the backstage. XD he really got the crowd high! he was very 'sexy' with some of his moves too! with big brother bobby chen's 'coercing', ashin had to smash his face into the small cake that was being psuhed out. ashin tried to escaped, but yanming and monster(?) chased after him. knowing he couldn't escape, ashin obediently went back to face the cake. bobby chen even trial the smashing-face-into-cake action for ashin. ashin was smart enough, he din get alot of cream on his face + he hide under the table to use the table cloth to wipe off most of the cream on his face.ashin was very smart to escape alot of birthday 'celebrations' for him. or should i say, he pushes to all other members + pin guan. monster and stone's face got smashed into the cake too. haha! just becoz all 3 of them are saggis. haha.when each individual member were doing their small talk and of coz drinking beer, ashin tried to escape by saying, yanming will show how much he love his daughter by drinking how much of beer. masha then said, ashin will show how much he love singapore fans by drinking how much of beer. ashin drank the whole can. but from what we guessed, the 1st can of 'beer' that ashin drank was actually water. heh heh. drops of 'transparent' beer dripped out when he tossed the can upside down to show he had finished the can.masha's solo bass performance was really very very cool. his hads and fingers are super fast on his bass!!! it just made the crowd went crazy! and right before his solo, they still action action by turning his collar up smartly, pulling his shirt. ha! at the end of 'peng you', masha tried singing a few styles e.g. RnB or hiphop (?) with his 'balabababa' and 'yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah' etc. there's tis one part in singing 'peng you' where everyone pushed all their mikes to yanming to sing solo. poor yanming was wondering what happen. he had that blur, question mark look on his face while singing. haha!! one very funny part was bobby chen was facing yanming, but he called 'pin guan, pin guan'. yanming, of coz did not respond, until pin guan, who was standing behind booby chen, realised that bobby chen had mistaken yanming as him and said 'i'm here, i'm here'. bobby chen and yanming then realised he got the wrong person!!! yanming got that super big innocent look on his face and telling the rest of the band members 'wo bu shi!' hah! but undeniably, both yanming and pin guan looked very very much alike!!! haha!!!there's an ABC cooler box at the left side of the stage. bobby chen at the beginning of the concert says, he's here to warm the crowd, for the young kids (pin guan + mayday) behind. they are good kids, so he will leave 1 can of beer for pin guan (and pulls out 1 can of beer and put on the floor) and another can of beer for mayday to share (and pulls out another can and put on the floor). the rest of the beers in the cooler box is all his. if his band members wants the beer, they will have to buy from him!ashin forgot some lyrics at one of the song and he have that 'frantically-trying-to-remember-what's-the-next-line' look on his face. haha! as usual, if he din forget lyrics that wrote himself, he's not ashin! at L-O-V-E game, i keep on hearing him shouting L-O-V-T. apparantly, not me alone heard T instead of E. haha. of coz there are people who heard G. everyone seems to be in a very good and high mood today. haha! it was on overall, a superb and relaxed concert!

Wah...this was the scariest part of the trip. Walking across a 'diao qiao' is no mean feat for a person with 1) a high CG and 2) vertigo. After traversing the bridge back and forth.... we then realised that it was quite dangerous bridge as the support railings were below the waist at the middle of the bridge. *faint*

Wu Lai Hot spring...wah lau what an experience man. We were ushered into the public pool where it was *cough cough* filled with like 20 nude women. Before some of you guys start to drool...they were like all above the age of 40. Quicky, we scampered to the private bathing area. Phew respite from sagging buttoks, breasts, operation lines and etc....funny thing was..I noticed that the bare naked ladies did not have hair in their nether regions...wah the bikini waxing linein Wu Lai must be earning big bucks.

Long Shan Temple....plenty of joss stick smoke, devotees praying and snap happy tourists (which included me!) It was one of the nicest temples I've visited..not becauseof the decor which was so-so but because of the atmosphere..you could almost feel the sincerity oozing out from all the praying and chanting.... hard to describe lah.

The haze is getting really bad. I can't even make out the silhouette of the HDB flats from my bedroom window and I nearly kena choked to death in Bishan Park this morning. It was a suicide mission to kill myself by jogging in the wretched haze. Can imagine the headlines... ... "Female teacher, aged 25, died choking to death on the haze while jogging" So I'm stuck indoors while observing the PSI index on the NEA website. (I think bluff one...what 96...more like 120 or so)

The school year is nearing its end soon and this signals a mad rush to finish keying in results, student reports and all the administrative stuff. It also signals my need to let the echelons of my school to know that I WILL NOT BE IN SINGAPORE DURING THE HOLIDAYS hahaha :) oops. Will be stationed at YCK primary to be recorder for the PSLE marking from Monday til Thursday. Hee can report at 1130 on Monday and get off early on Thursday. Shiok *cheap thrill grin*

Can anyone tell me how can I collect 26 ABC bottle caps so as to exchange for a ticket to watch Mayday on 6th Dec? The only way I can think of is to go to the various kopitiams and make friends with Ah Peks drinking the black dog beer. Hai~ the lengths I would go for to see Mayday.

Oh and BTW, I'm going Taiwan with Croxxy :P Hee From the 26th of Nov til 4th Dec YAY! If you've got any information on Taiwan like where to go, what to look out for please drop a comment k? I've concluded that marketing reseachers are all damn eng. The information provided by Croxxy's colleagues were detailed, precise and it came wih pictures, comments and maps. RSAF Open House 2006...it was a fun day with Jo and Jia. It was also incidentally the hottest day of the whole bloody year.It was when I got my sun burn. It was when we saw a Daniel Wu look-a-like fighter pilot. It was when we knew why Jia can never be a pilot. It was when I decided that enough was enough and we scooted off to A/C places. It was when we found that Ford Factory closes on Sundays. It was when I found out that there was a place called Railway mall because of its proximity to the KTM railway. It was when I bought my white dress. It was fun...... Til more times like this my dear pals! :)

Met my NJC friends recently and I think I really miss being a student.

Today I went for a jog at NYJC track. Saw touch rugby gers training on the field and brought back many pleasant memories of my trainig in NJC. Really miss playing team sports... It was a nice evening.

These few days have been wonderful. It's like a respite from all the rubbish I've been loaded with at school. It's like a gentle breeze amidst the stoic humid wind. It's like the ...you get the drift.

8th August was a 1/2 day for us teachers and how could we let go of the chance to croon in full blast air-con rooms in Kbox? I t was a riot singing with Jo, Matt and Eve. I'm really glad to have met all these people who really brighten up my days in school. More importantly, they also share the burden of the various projects I'm involved in. Recently there've been plenty of rumours about me circulating around the staff room. Do too much work also kenna say, do too little work also kenna say, do just nice also kenna say. Dunnoe what to do or say liao.

The fireworks by Team Singapore at Marina was breath taking...then the crowd took my breath away literally. I couldn't breathe with thousands of warm human bodies sandwiching me and Steven, emitting heat and all kinds of weird smells. Smart old uncle Steven thought of taking the train from Marina Bay so that we can get seats. Apparently all Singaporeans think alike. Never did Marina Bay MRT Station seen so many people.

National Day. A day to celebrate a day to be patriotic. Erm... but I'm not Singaporean.

Met up with my JC mates. YM said that she loves meeting up with us cos even though we've not seen each other for quite some time (1 year to be exact!) we can still talk and chat til the cows come home. Feel really really lucky to have them as friends, to have known them since 1998. Whoa..how time flies man. YM stay in Singapore don't go back to Manchester!!!!

Went to catch Sophie Scholl with Steven at GV Plaza. There were only nerds, ang mohs and us in the small cinema...guess foreign films is not really mass market yet. The film was pretty good but gets a tad broing at times for people bred on action packed hollywood shows. It paints a very idealistic picture and I just think that people in 1943 are really made up of stronger stuff whether in Europe, Singapore, Australia or the States.

Today is the slackest day...meeting Pregnant Lady and Jas in town later for lunch. Wanted to jog at Bishan Park this morning but the weather got the better of me. Shall jog later in the evening when Steven comes over.

I'm staring at my pile of marking and inertia sets dangerously into my system after a breakfast of cereal... dies.
